The key differences
- Data: on Business, your company's data is not used to train models by default.
- Admin controls: add and remove people, manage which apps and connectors they can use, and keep company chats inside a shared workspace instead of personal accounts.
- Shared work: shared projects, team spaces and, on newer releases, team tasks and @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams.
- Billing: one invoice for the whole team instead of reimbursing personal subscriptions.
What it costs
Business is $25 per seat per month, or $20 per seat billed yearly. That's the same as Plus when you commit for a year. Business Premium is $125 per seat monthly or $100 yearly, with about five times the usage of a standard Business seat and access to Dots.
When Plus is still fine
A solo freelancer, or a couple of people using ChatGPT for non-sensitive work, can stay on Plus. The moment you have client data, an employee leaving, or more than a handful of people, Business pays for itself in control alone.
Mixing seat types
You don't need Premium for everyone. Give standard Business seats to most of the team and Premium only to people who run agents or regularly hit limits.
Leaving a team member's account
With personal Plus accounts, when someone leaves, their chats and files leave with them. With Business, the workspace belongs to the company. For many teams that alone is the deciding factor.
